Therapy: The Basics

 

Just the thought of starting therapy can be overwhelming. Here’s the stuff you should know!

  1. Therapy isn’t only for those struggling with serious mental health issues. If you’re struggling with any kind of change in your life, stress, or negative thoughts, therapy can help you.

  2. The process of therapy can be uncomfortable. There will be times where you will be discussing and revisiting negative thoughts and memories. Every session doesn’t have to be an emotional break-through. But we have to talk about the difficult things so you can be on your way to feeling better!

  3. All therapists are not the same. Everyone has their own personality and approach. I do everything I can to help and benefit you. If my methods don’t seem to be working for you, tell me! I can always adapt my methods to suit every individual.

  4. You don’t have to go to therapy for the rest of your life! If you feel you’ve accomplished everything you came to therapy to work on, then that’s it! You can always come back if you need a refresher on things or if something comes up down the road.
